My Go To Chai Protein Shake for the Perfect Post Workout Boost
Finding a protein shake that I actually want to return to after every workout has always been a bit of a journey for me, especially with food allergies making it even harder to find something that not only works, but is also safe. Today, I finally made the perfect mixture, and I had to share it with you!
Chai Spiced Protein Bliss
This is one that I find myself constantly reaching for over and over again and now I get to share it with you guys!
Ingredients:
1 cup milk – Recently, I've switched to real milk instead of almond milk, and during my journey of intuitive eating, this has been one of my favorites. We buy milk from a local farm in Colorado, sourced from Guernsey cows, known for their rich and creamy texture. When it comes to mixing it up, I personally prefer less milk and more chai mix for a stronger flavor.
1/2 cup Chai Mix – Lately, I've been loving the Sherpa Chai from Whole Foods, and this week it's even on sale! You can check it out here. Sherpa Chai is actually local to the Boulder area, which makes it even more special to incorporate into my routine! He even has a book if you want to learn more about their story: Pemba's Story.
1 scoop Vanilla Whey Protein – I use this vanilla whey protein, but you can choose whatever fits your preference. There are also really great vegan options available!
a sprinkle of Cinnamon – to enhance the chai flavor.
1 tsp Creatine – A great addition for muscle recovery and performance (this is how I made mine today, but you don’t have to use it every time. I wanted to share it with you guys in case you wanted to try it for yourselves!)
1 tsp Honey – Sometimes I add a this if I'm craving something sweeter that day.
Optional: 1/4 cup Coffee Concentrate – On some days when I’m in the mood for a dirty chai, I'll add a splash of coffee. I love using Chameleon Coffee Concentrate.
I use my favorite hand mixer to stir everything together, making sure it blends smoothly in my favorite ribbed glass tumbler (nobody likes chunky protein 🤢). If you're interested, you can check them out here - there's currently a 30 percent off coupon!
