Energy Healing in Practice
Reflections on integrative care, constant learning, and simple ways to work with your own energy
Why I Chose Energy Healing for My Final Project
Every now and then I like to share what I’m learning behind the scenes. I’m part of an integrative therapy and healing practice group, and for my final project I decided to focus on Reiki and integrative energy healing. The project looked at how these practices could support patients recovering from orthopedic surgery, but really it felt like a bigger reflection on how energy work can fit into everyday care.
Why I Chose This
I’ve always been curious about how energy healing can bridge with modern healthcare. Post-surgical patients often deal with pain, anxiety, and sleeplessness. Reiki or Seichem can offer a safe and non-invasive way to ease some of that stress. Research shows benefits for relaxation, pain relief, and overall well-being, which is why I felt called to bring this forward.
It wasn’t just about completing an assignment. For me, it was about asking how integrative practices can make care more compassionate and complete.
Why It Matters
Energy healing is subtle but powerful. Here’s how it helps:
Patients feel calmer, sleep better, and often notice less pain.
Practitioners get another tool to support not just symptoms but the whole person.
Organizations see patients recover more smoothly, sometimes with less reliance on medication, which creates better outcomes overall.
It reminded me that this work is never just about “alternative” healing. It’s truly about building bridges between science and spirit, between the measurable and the felt experience, and between body and energy.
Always a Student
I’m always in classes, trainings, and practice groups. For me, it isn’t about collecting certifications. It’s about showing up as a better practitioner, learning to hold safer spaces, and weaving research with lived experience. This project was one step in that bigger process, and sharing it here feels like a way to bring you into the journey too.
Try It Yourself: Simple Energy Practices
Hand over heart breathing: Place your hand on your chest and breathe slowly for one minute. Imagine light moving in and out with each breath.
Aura sweep: With your hands a few inches away from your body, brush downward from head to toe as if clearing away heavy energy. Imagine releasing it into the earth.
Elemental grounding: Step outside and connect with the elements. Bare feet on the ground for earth, a glass of water for water, a candle or sunlight for fire, and three deep breaths for air.
A mantra: Whisper to yourself, I am light, I am calm, I am whole.
These are simple ways to experience the support of energy healing in your own routine.
With love and alignment,
